News...Honorary Paws for Healing Canine Therapist
This year, Laddie, who is the descendent of the first collie to be trained for the role of “Lassie”, became an honorary Paws for Healing canine therapist, with his teammates Robert Weatherwax (owner and trainer) and Jon Provost (“Timmy”). Laddie

The story of "Lassie", was first told by Eric Knight who wrote "Lassie Come Home." The book tells of a boy's love for his collie who must be sold because of the family’s financial hardship. Somehow the dog finds her way back and, after enduring a 500-mile journey, is finally allowed to come home. Over the years, "Lassie" has come to embody all that is noble and good about canines and their relationship with humankind.

That is why Paws is so honored to have Laddie with his owner and "Timmy" as part of our organization. Laddie serves as a symbol for the many unselfish acts therapy dogs perform for little more than a smile or gentle pat.
